EmpowerPharm introduces prescription CBD tablet for anxiety

Canadian-owned pharmaceutical company, EmpowerPharm Inc., has introduced a new prescription tablet of synthetic CBD designed to treat patients suffering from anxiety.

Empower CBD is meant to be an alternative to current prescription drugs without the serious potential side effects. The company is currently going through clinical studies for approval by Health Canada and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

“We’ve heard from physicians on our medical advisory board that they want alternative prescription medicines than what are currently available,” says Aubrey Dan, EmpowerPharm executive chairman & co-founder. “Anxiety is typically treated with benzodiazepines, which come with a number of side-effects that patients want to avoid, including the potential for addiction and cognitive impairment.”
