In a move that makes it one of the few cannabis operations software systems in both Canada and the U.S., cannabis technology company Blaze Solutions Inc. has acquired Vancouver-based dispensary POS software company Greenline.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

In a May 10 news release, officials with Newport Beach, Calif.-based Blaze said the deal allows it to better serve its international clients, while also enabling it to gain experience operating in Canada’s federally regulated marketplace.

“This acquisition is important to our goals of expanding beyond U.S. borders,” said Blaze CEO Chris Violas. “While the Canadian market is federally legal, there are still nuances that we need to consider. Acquiring Greenline allows us to shorten the learning curve.”

The news release says that Blaze will roll out this acquisition gradually over the next six months, with both companies retaining their current organizational structures and respective C-level leadership. “Greenline’s Canadian retailers should not expect to see any immediate changes with this acquisition but can expect to see increased innovation moving forward as part of the Blaze family,” the news release said.

Blaze was founded in 2017, and says its software suite fully supports vertically integrated operations, standalone dispensaries, delivery services, distributors, and cultivators.
